MetLife Coverage Availability & Fees

Although each dental insurance plan is different, a MetLife PPO plan will always give you the freedom to see any dentist you'd like. However, you'll save significantly more by seeing an in-network MetLife dentist like Dr. Kellner. In fact, as part of our agreement with MetLife, our fees are typically 30%-45% lower than they would be from an out-of-network dentist.

Since each plan has its own coverage rates, you'll want to look at your individual benefits to see exactly what's covered (or call us and we'll be happy to help). With that said, here are some average coverage rates when you see an in-network MetLife dentist:

  • Preventive services – Checkups, cleanings, and routine X-rays are often covered at 80% -100%.
  • Minor restorative services – Minor restorative care such as dental fillings are typically covered at 50%- 80%.
  • Major restorative services – Major restorative care such as dental crowns and bridges are usually covered from 30%- 50%. However, the Preventive Plan PPO may not offer any coverage for these procedures.

Also, it's important to note that each MetLife plan will have its own calendar year maximum, which is the total amount they'll spend on your dental work for the year.

And, depending on how many family members are covered under your plan, you'll need to pay a different deductible before MetLife covers certain procedures. This is typically between $50-$100 and doesn't apply to preventive services like checkups and cleanings (which are automatically covered). These visits not only cost you little to nothing, they're also one of the best ways to minimize major dental work and maintain a healthy smile.
