TOOTHACHES

Is my toothache a dental emergency?: Toothaches can occur for many different reasons, which is why it’s vital to be mindful of your symptoms if one develops. While you should call our office if you have a toothache period, it’s considered a dental emergency when the pain is severe, ongoing, or accompanied by a fever or pimple-like bumps on your gum tissue.

How you should handle a toothache: Use dental floss to remove any food debris that may be stuck in between your teeth. Take over-the-counter painkillers like ibuprofen if this does not help. If you notice a pimple-like bump on your gum tissue, do not try to pop it on your own. This can make an existing infection worse if it is present.

How we treat toothaches: We’ll need to examine you more closely to determine the exact cause of your toothache, but we do offer multiple solutions depending on the source of your discomfort. For example, tooth-colored fillings can remedy cavities, while root canal therapy can resolve an infection inside the tooth. Gum disease treatment can provide relief for infected gum tissue. As a last resort, we may recommend a tooth extraction.
